Many of our customers are photographers – professionals and hobbyists – and they set up their Jill-e Designs bags accordingly.  But with a broader reading and some minor adjustments, these tips will make sense for all of today’s personal electronic devices and all types of travel:

1. Remove all of the pre-installed Velcro dividers that come inside the bag…these are for you to adjust as needed
2. Determine where in the bag you’d like your camera body (or your most important personal electronic device) to be located.  Decide whether to carry it with lens attached, how best to position it (grip up, display side down), etc.
3. Once this central item is in place, install the Velcro dividers around it in a snug, secure manner.  You should be able to get to it easily and pull it out of the bag gently, while also ensuring it is stable and will not move “in transit.”
4. Follow the same procedure with each lens or fragile device that you carry.  Position Velcro dividers around each one snug enough so it doesn’t shift while being carried, but can be removed from the bag easily when you want to.
5. Once all these major items are secure, use the additional empty compartments created by the Velcro dividers to store flash and/or additional accessories such as cables and cords, memory card readers, thumb drives, software, etc.
6. As a rule, pack heavier items at the bottom of the bag, lighter items toward the top.
7. An exterior pocket is the perfect place to store your smart phone.  It provides quick, convenient access without the need to open the bag and disturb your gear.
8. Exterior pockets are also a good place to store quick-access essentials, such as lens cleaning cloth, extra batteries, filters, memory cards and business cards.
9. Utilize different color rubber bands to distinguish fresh batteries from depleted batteries, so there’s no mistake when time to install new ones.
10. If you prefer to take along a few personal items (e.g. tissues, comb, lipstick, etc.) use the separate pouch that comes with many of our bags to contain these items.  It makes for a quick dash to the restroom.

Of course, you should feel free to configure your Jill-e Designs bag in a way that best meets the demands of your unique tech-savvy lifestyle.  But these recommendations should help you get the most out of the features we’ve built into our fashionable, functional, security-conscious bags.

We asked hundreds of women: “What’s in Your Bag?” and without doubt learned we’re not the only ones who carry it all! Our respondents certainly were willing to empty out their carry bags and share what “essential” means to them:

• “Water bottle, Crystal light drink pack, medication, checkbook, wallet, receipts (15), my sons Nerf bullets (from two weeks ago), another crystal light pack, candy from a kids birthday party, my daughters ballet shoes, her hair brush, pencil, wet ones, hand sanitizer, local ad for the grocery store, grocery list, iPhone, bank deposit slips, notes from my child’s teacher, Balance Bar, gift cards, baggie, more over the counter medications, business cards, Splenda, nail clippers, keys, comb, sunscreen sticks, more drink packets, change purse, unmentionables, my name is Aimee tag, and a little sand from the beach. Ok, got it…time to clean out the purse!!! I guess I really need to get organized with your great products.”

And, even beyond these responses, we certainly did hear it all! However, what we did notice is: no matter where each woman was going or what she was doing, she had two things in common: (1) She always carried “MILCC” and (2) she desired more organization in her carry bag!
